What to expect at an NCHSR Open Day
The National College for High Speed Rail is holding Open Days at both of its campuses this June. This will also be the first set of Open Days to be held on a Saturday, so you can pop in any time from 10am to 2pm and make it part of your day! It also gives a good opportunity to evaluate your options before September. Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect…
On arrival, you will be greeted by a member of staff who will hand you a visitor pack which will include a map and times for presentations. You are welcome to explore the college by yourself and take in the atmosphere. We will have staff posted in classrooms, common areas and the workshop so you can experience first hand all the technology and equipment available here, as well as the people that make NCHSR such a great environment to learn in. There will be presentations throughout the day by our Chief Executive, Clair Mowbray and Andrew Frieson, Head of Education Training Performance giving you an overview of the college and the rail industry as well as our curriculum offer, learner destinations and how to make the most of the event.
As well as speaking to staff and learners, you will have the chance to experience some of the state-of-the-art technology that is used around the college. This may include using a VR headset on a former Eurostar power car to simulate driving a train from London to Paris or watching the process of a model being made in the CAD/CAM room.
If this all sounds like your cup of tea and has just caught your interest, come and visit us in Doncaster on 15th June and Birmingham on 29th June from 10am – 2pm. We hope to see you there!
