With just over four months to go until we open our doors, life at the National College for High Speed Rail is currently pretty full-on. But with a fifth of rail engineers on the cusp of retirement and the prospect of losing access to talented workers in Europe, it has never been more important for our UK rail companies to invest in the education and upskilling of their workforce to make our emerging high speed rail industry a success.
This first intake of apprentices are going to be the pioneers of high-speed rail in the UK. As the human face of Europe’s largest infrastructure project rail, they will be ambassadors for a bright future for the rail industry in Britain.
We want to reassure the industry that there are still places remaining. But please, act soon to register your apprentices for 2017. We’ve had a lot of interest from potential apprentices, so if you have identified a vacancy to fill, we can help you to find the right candidate for your business.
We’re working hard to ensure that your apprentices will receive industry-leading, employer-led training giving them knowledge of the latest skills and techniques. As a result, signing up your apprentices to the college will give you a competitive advantage over your rivals when bidding for work; we should be an essential part of your plans to be HS2 ready.
We are a college developed with the industry, for the industry, and we need your support to make our college a success, and make a tangible change to the skills economy in our sector.
On offer from September 2017:
- Higher Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering
- Higher Apprenticeship in Track Systems
- Higher Apprenticeship in Systems Engineering
- Higher Apprenticeship Operations/Departmental Manager
To find out more about the apprenticeships on offer at the college please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0330 120 0375. Our Stakeholder Engagement Managers will be pleased to talk you through your options for working with us.
We’re also holding an event aimed at interested business, in Birmingham on 14th June. This event will outline the expectations from HS2 on how you can engage with the National College, and give you an understanding of how the apprenticeship levy and standards work. You’ll also be able to book a 15-minute slot with a member of the college team to talk through your specific needs.
