Aims of the programme

The programme is designed to develop knowledge and skills across a broad range of Construction and Civil Engineering technologies essential to businesses in a rapidly evolving economy.  The programme also aims to give key transferable skills that are valued by employers.  Studies will focus on a core knowledge which is required by all civil engineers such as Construction Technology, Science and Materials and Mathematics for Construction.  Additionally, the programme aims to provide essential Construction and Civil Engineering management skills.

Teaching, learning and assessment

The varied nature of this programme means a wide range of teaching and learning methods will be used. In order to ensure learners acquire and develop the appropriate concepts, knowledge and skills, timetabled face to face classes are combined with independent learning and online learning. Learners will attend lectures, practical sessions, online lectures, workshops, tutorials and informal group study sessions. There will also be opportunities to go on site visits to view state-of-the-art projects, and attend guest lectures by specialists from industry, the professional bodies or other academic institutions.

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering – Merit Merit Merit
or
3 x A-Levels with at least 1 in an appropriate subject (Maths/Physics/Chemistry)
