Systems Engineering

Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship: High Speed Rail and Infrastructure Higher Technician

This course is on offer to industry apprentices from January 2018. Enquiries and applications for enrolment for courses in future years are now live.

Systems engineering is all about planning for the future. It needs both engineering and management skills as it simulates how to design and manage complex systems or projects. A systems engineer is essential for the smooth running of a project.

In high speed rail, that means making sure that everything from the design to the construction comes together as a whole, without any nasty surprises! And where problems do arise, systems engineers are able to come up with elegant solutions to keep the project on track.

You’ll have a really analytical brain and be extremely organized and methodical in your work. Keeping complex projects like high speed railways ticking over is no mean feat!
