CLEARING IS OPEN!

Clearing is a way of finding a university level course starting this year. It can be used if you don’t already have a place at university (whether you’ve already applied or not), or if you want to change your chosen course or higher education provider.

When does Clearing start?

Clearing is now open. Our phone lines are open from 10.00am–4.00pm, Monday to Friday. On Saturday 18 August, our phone lines will be open from 10.00am-4.00pm.

Our number is 0330 120 0375.

Who is eligible for Clearing?

You can use clearing to find an undergraduate course if:

  • you’re not already holding an offer of a place
  • you haven’t previously applied to university
  • you want to change your choice of university

Which courses are available in Clearing?

The Certificate of Higher Education in High Speed Rail and Infrastructure and the Foundation Degree in High Speed Rail and Infrastructure are both available via Clearing.

These courses are validated by Sheffield Hallam University and can be found on UCAS by simply searching ‘High Speed Rail’.  Your UCAS application will be through Sheffield Hallam University.

How to apply for a course through clearing

Want to apply now? Call us now on 0330 120 0375.

For details of how to apply and what happens next, choose one of the following options:

I have already applied to another university through UCAS

If you don’t get the results you needed for your first or second choice university, you can still find a place at the National College for High Speed Rail through Clearing.

Here’s how it works, in three simple steps.

Step 1. Check UCAS Track

Before you do anything else, check UCAS Track to see if your first or second choice university has confirmed your place.

If not, it’s time to enter Clearing.

Step 2. Make the call

It’s time to call us on 0330 120 0375.

When you ring up, you’ll need a full list of your results, plus your GCSE grades.

Be prepared to talk about why you want to study the course. Think about what you wrote in your personal statement.

We will then refer you to Sheffield Hallam University who will decide whether or not they can make you an offer.

If they make you an offer, they’ll email you the details, so make sure you use an email address you can check regularly.

Step 3. Accept your offer

When you receive an offer of a place, log into UCAS Track and add your clearing choice to accept your offer.

If you haven’t applied through UCAS

You’ll also need to send them evidence of your qualifications. A photo of them will do at this stage.
