No matter where you’re up to on your career journey, an apprenticeship at the National College for High Speed Rail can help you along the way.
You might already be working somewhere in the industry, but looking for a new set of skills to help you take that next step up the ladder. Perhaps you’re a skilled engineer who’d like to gain a new specialism in rail. You could be keen on boosting your management skills for a move into projects. Or maybe you’re not even on the ladder yet – but you’re talented and keen to break into the field.
Whatever your circumstances, if you’re interested in taking a high speed journey with us, chances are the National College has a course for you.
An ideal route for engineers looking to retrain or upskill is a Higher Apprenticeship. Our Level 4 qualification in High Speed Rail and Infrastructure will see you split your time between studying at the college and working with an employer – that could be the company you already work for, or a new mentoring company that we can partner you up with.
Meanwhile, our Level 5 Operations/Departmental Manager Apprenticeship is intended for those who want to train in managing teams or projects, specifically in relation to rail – but with transferable skills that are in demand across a wide range of types and sizes of organisation.
As well as continuing to earn a salary throughout the duration of your study, our Apprenticeships will give you the skills you need to help get a job after you finish your course. Our courses are developed with direct input from industry employers – they want graduates with the specific skills they need, so they help us make sure our learners get them!
Studying at the National College means taking advantage of cutting-edge learning technology – and a real-life rail engineering environment, complete with our actual former Eurostar power cars. Our campuses in Birmingham and Doncaster offer the opportunity to live in vibrant, well-connected places with rich connections to the UK rail industry’s past, present and future.
The future of rail travel is everything you’d expect – incredible speed, technology and innovation. And the National College for High Speed Rail is where you can become one of the people who’ll make it all happen.
Choose your connection, and find out what high speed rail can do for you, by visiting the college at our March Open Days in Birmingham (21 March) and Doncaster (28 March). Try out our VR learning platforms, get up close with the #Brumstar and #Donnystar trains, and meet our first cohort of students who are already making great strides into the industry.
